The stage is set for the 'dance of democracy' in Telangana where polls will be held in 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly constituencies in the first phase tomorrow.

More than 2.81 crore electorate, including over 1.37 crore women are eligible to decide the fate of 265 aspirants for the Lok Sabha and 1,669 candidates for the Assembly.

The crucial polls in Telangana, taking birth as a new state on June 2, will witness a triangular contest among the Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the TDP-BJP combine.

An interesting contest is in the offing in quite a few constituencies.

The importance attached to tomorrow's polls could be gauged by the fact that all the major players had deployed their star campaigners to undertake the electioneering, which ended in the region last evening.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers and top Congress and BJP leaders, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, besides several film personalities took part in the high voltage campaign.

A feature of the by and large peaceful campaign was that all major contesting parties claimed credit for their role in the creation of Telangana.
