The Beed Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today arrested a lady forest officer attached with Dharur forest office in Beed district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,200 from a forest ranger of the same office.


Complainant forest officer, Santosh Jadhav, resident of Beed, is attached with Dharur forest office, who had completed training of forest ranger at Jalna. Mr Jadhav, was entitled to Rs 12,500 as travelling allowance (TA) during his training period, an ACB official release said.

For sanctioning his bill, Ms Shilpa Sasane(25) sought ten per cent (Rs 1250) amount as bribe for sanctioning Mr Jadhav's TA bills from Treasury office. After bargaining, it was decided that he will pay Rs 1200.

Meanwhile, Mr Jadhav, lodged complaint with Beed ACB against the Ms Sasane. After the verifying the fact which was mentioned in the complaint, officials of ACB team laid a trap near Beed bus stop this morning and arrested her while accepting the bribe amount, they said.

A case under Sections 7, 13(1)(D) and 13(2) of Anti-Corruption Act of 1988 has been registered with the Beed's Shivajinagar police station against Ms Sasane, ACB statement added.
