Taj Bengal is all set to host the third edition of Kolkata Literary Meet (Kalam) 2014.

The meet to be held in the city from Jan 25 to Jan 30 will witness literary stalwarts and dignitaries from around the world come together like David Godwin, Ramchandra Guha, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Jayant Kripalni, Ian Jack, Ayu Utami, Adrian Levy, Aditi Mangaldas, Jhumpa Lahiri, Peter Godwin, Samit Basu, Sadaf Saaz Siddiqi and many more.

In addition the hotel has made special arrangements for an author's lounge for easy access and interaction with the dignitaries.

Speakers at this year's meet, includes the best of both national and international literary circuits.

While favourites like Vikram Seth and Sharmila Tagore are coming back this year, the meet will also host for the first time the likes of Gloria Steinem, Mark Tully and Naseeruddin Shah, as well as new discoveries like Tash Aw among others.

Kalam was started in Jan 2012 with the aim of giving Kolkata a platform to meet writers from India and abroad.

Over its first two editions the meet has hosted Nobel laureate Amartya Sen and writers like Vikram Seth, Valerio Manfredi, Alessandro Baricco, Amitav Ghosh, Thomas Keneally and Pico Iyer as well as academics like Gayatri Chakravarty Spivak.

This year, a new prologue session is being introduced where Jhumpa Lahiri will be speaking and this will be held on Jan 23 at Victoria Memorial Hall.
