Congress seeks deployment of Central forces at Joynagar
West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee today sought the Election Commission(EC) intervention to ensure adequate deployment of Central forces for peaceful polling at Joynagar Lok Sabha seat in South 24 Parganas.
Citing terror tactics of the anti-social elements WBPCC's election campaign committee chairman Pradip Bhattacharjya in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, said one Lalbabu Gazi (28) of Dilantapur village under Mograhat was murdered by alleged Trinamool Congress activists.
"We have received information from our party sources that anti-social elements are roaming about the entire area and continuing creating a terror which is detrimental to peaceful condition of Lok Sabha election of 19-Joynagar (SC) where Lalbabu Gazi reported to have killed." Mr Bhattacharya said the matter was informed to local administration but no action had been taken so far.
Apprehending trouble in time of election day the Congress urged the EC to ensure adequate central forces for deployment in the area or else the election will be ' jeopardised.'
