The Election Commission today issued a show cause notice to sitting Trinamool Congress MP Satabdi Roy, who is seeking re-election from Birbhum, for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

The Tollywood actor allegedly uttered 'objectionable assurance' during campaigning in her constituency on Saturday.

Ms Roy had allegedly said that she would give more priority to development of areas of those people who would support her and less priority to those who would not vote her.

The EC, after collecting documents of her speech from the Birbhum district magistrate and studying them, finally issued the notice to Ms Roy today, EC sources here said.

The opposition parties also took exception of her speech saying the TMC MP was dividing the people for vote bank politics and reported the matter to the EC.
