Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today complained against YSR Congress Party to Election Commission (EC) that the YSRCP candidates stored large quantity of illicit liquor at conspicious places to distribute during the elections.

TDP requested EC to direct all the officers concerned to search for illicit liquor stored in wells, agricultre fields, fish tanks, minor irrigation tanks and godowns and take necessary action against the culprits.

In a letter, addressed to EC and copy of which was released to medi here, TDP General Secretary P Anuradha said that recently police conducted raid at an old Textile Mill owned by Ravin Venkata Ramana, contesting candidate on behalf of YSRCP from Chilakaluripet Assembly Constituency and found 23,952 bottles of cheap liquor. This is meant for distribution to the voters of Chilakaluripet Assembly constituency by YSRCP.

Yesterday, again, another big dump was found at a mango garden owned by contesting candidate of YSRCP of Vizianagaram Assembly constituency.

Police special party raided at Nellore district and Prakasam district and found large quantity of illicit liquor stored beneath water tanks, wells and godowns owned by YSRCP leaders. This was reported by the local TV channels and print media.

'It is brought to our notice that YSRCP, in a preplanned manner brought this illicit liquor from Haryana and Goa and stored at conspicious places for the last two months. Unless the police personal thoroughly checkup all the wells, fish tanks and minor irrigation tanks, this illicit liquor cannot be traced.

It is necessary in order to conduct a free and fair election all the illicit liquor has to be unearthed when stringent action should be taken against culprits, Ms Anuradha added.
