Dalit files complaint against Baba Ramdev
A local lawyer lodged a complaint against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev for his alleged comment on Dalits with Gomtipur police here late last night.
The police registered the complaint with a zero number and forwarded it to Lucknow police for further action since the incident had taken place in UP.
The police said Ratnaben Vora, a High Court lawyer, came to the police station and lodged a complaint against Baba Ramdev under the Atrocity Act for hurting the sentiments of the dalits. They said Baba Ramdev had made some derogatory remarks against dalits and tried to belittle them.
Baba Ramdev was cornered for his controversial comment on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi that he goes to houses of dalits for honeymoon and picnic. The comment has evoked the sharp reactions from dalits and others. Ramdev promptly offered his apology but the controversy has not died down.
Ramdev is on a two-day visit of Gujarat where he is holding two yoga camps in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Gujarat High Court gave a conditional permission to his camps after Vadodara police cancelled its permission.
