NREGA workers union to support SAD-BJP candidates
NREGA workers union today announced that it will extend support to SAD-BJP candidates in Lok Sabha elections.
This decision was announced here at Badal village by Mr Jai Singh, President NREGA workers union in the presence of Shiromani Akali Dal President and Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal.
He was accompanied by Mr Khushal Singh, Union general secretary, Mr Jagsir Singh, union president Mansa district and Ms Gurmeet Kaur, president union block Lambi.
Mr Jai Singh called upon the NREGA workers to support SAD-BJP candidates in order to teach historic lesson to anti-poor Congress party in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that Congress has always step motherly attitude towards Punjab workers, farmers, traders and industrialists. He said that this was also part of this discrimination that Congress led UPA was giving rupees 236 per day to NREGA workers in neighbouring state Haryana whereas in Punjab they were getting only rupees 200 per day.
Mr Jai Singh said that Union had also approached many senior Congress leaders besides requesting Union Minister of Rural Development Mr Jairam Ramesh to interfere but no one bothered to end this discrimination. He said that Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal has promised him that NDA would end this discrimination besides fulfilling other demands of the union. He said SAD-BJP alliance has always adopted pro-poor policies besides keeping all the promises alliance has made with the people.
Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal assured Mr. Jai Singh once elected to power NDA would immediately end UPA's discrimination with Punjab NREGA workers.
He studied the demand letter of the Union and promised that NDA would meet all the due demands of the union. He reiterated that rolling back all anti Punjab decisions of Congress-led UPA government was on the priority list of NDA.
