Only 5 votes polled in 1 booth in Thane; demand for re-poll
A demand has been made for re-poll in a booth in Majiwada where only five people were allowed to vote and others turned back stating that their names were missing from the electoral rolls today, Ashok Pohekar, the election agent of NCP nominee and sitting MP Sanjeev Naik said here.
Talking to reporters Mr Pohekar said that he had already made a demand in this regard to the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Officer of the state to order re-poll in this booth.
In a memorandum submitted to them, copies of which were circulated to the media here, he said that till recently and for the last two polls, there were two polling booths, 338-A and 341-A in the Chandresh Lodha school.
However, the two have been combined and only one polling booth was made available with number 338-A and the booth was shifted to the Gramin Sikhshan Sansta at Majiwada he said.
He said he had brought this to the notice of the poll officials who refused to reconsider the location he said. He said that as against the total voters of around 1200 to 1300 only five have been allowed to vote.
This is done deliberately which needs a total probe and a repoll needs to be ordered in the booth he demanded to the election commission.
