NCC cadets, NSS volunteers to help ailing, disabled voters on Apr 30
The district election office has decided to deploy NCC cadets and NSS volunteers at the model polling stations set up in the district for voting on April 30 to help and facilitate ailing and disabled people in casting votes.
District Electoral Officer Varun Roojam, while reviewing the arrangements made for voting on April 30 at a meeting of the assisting returning officers said that the election office will provide wheel chairs at all the model polling stations to facilitate ailing and disabled voters reach the polling booths.
He said videography of voting in ten booths each ib all the nine assembly segments of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat would be done to ensure free, fair and transparent voting. Apart from this arrangements for the webcasting at 25 venues in the district have also been made.
He said the jawans of paramilitary forces in addition to the Punjab police would also be deployed at the critical booths to keep a check on the law and order situation. In the meeting, movement plan of the micro observers and refreshment for the polling staff was also discussed.
The DEO said that the postal ballot voting will be conducted on April 27 and April 29 from 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs at all the nine assembly segments of the constituency. All the officers and employees deputed on election duty will cast their votes in the ballot boxes postal ballot voting. The entire process of postal ballot voting will be videographed also.
