The Rural Police have launched a manhunt for a villager who allegedly slit the throat of his young wife and killed her at Maykop area of Safale in Palghar taluka of the district.

The accused, Prakash Bhoir, had frequent quarrels with his second wife Preeti (38) over his habit of drinking, the police said today.

On April 16, there was a quarrel between the couple over his wife having lodged a complaint with the Palghar police against his other wife. In a fit of rage, he pulled out the kitchen knife and allegedly slit the throat of Preeti and killed her.

It was based on the complaint by the accused's 15-year-old son, Praful P Bhoir, the Safale police registered an offence under Sections 302 and 506 of Indian Penal Code against the accused, sources added.
