Modi slams UPA on Dawood, Italian marines
Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today slammed the Congress-led UPA government over extradition of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and also Italian marines facing charges for killing Indian fishermen.
In an interview to a Gujarati news channel, Mr Modi said the issue of bringing back Dawood to India was not a matter to be discussed in media.
"Is this a matter to be discussed in the media? Did the US issue a press note to nab Bin Laden? Did the US conduct a press conference that they will nab Bin Laden on this or that day?" the BJP leader said.
"I feel ashamed that our Home Minister does not have the minimum maturity," the Gujarat Chief Minister commented.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had made a statement to bring back Dawood to India.
Mr Shinde had admitted that India and the US were working jointly to try and bring back the underworld don who was reportedly residing in Pakistan.
Mr Modi also criticised the Centre over Italian marines issue. He questioned the alleged special treatment to them.
"It is unfortunate that Italian marines killed Kerala fishermen. The country wants to know in which jail they have been lodged? Are they in jail? Or they enjoying?" Mr Modi asked.
The BJP's PM nominee said there was a need of zero tolerance against terrorism, Naxalism and other crimes.
