On whnt grounds Cong seeking votes, questions Jaitley
The SAD-BJP Amritsar candidate Arun Jaitley today came down heavily on Congress and its Amritsar candidate Capt Amarinder Singh for failing utterly in providing any practical relief to the farmers facing a Pandora box of problems.
He dared Congress to reply why the latter stopped the compensation scheme to the farmers whose lands fall across the barbed fence, launched by the erstwhile Vajpayee goverment Why the DAP is being sold today at a rate of Rs 1,125 and diesel at Rs 54 which were available during the said regime at Rs 467 and Rs 20.75 respectively.
The BJP stalwart was addressing a mammoth rally at nearby town Attari.
He further asserted that ten years back UPA government immediately stopped the compensation given to the farmers, thus adding insult to the injuries to these mostly marginal farmers, he added.
Mr Jaitley poopoohed the present state government which who started giving compensation at the rate of Rs 2500 per acre despite the fact that the UPA government didn't provide a pie for that and the govt had meragre sources of income. Mr Jaitley promised, amid a loud applause that the compensation will be increased once the Punjab government took over reins of power at the Centre.
Giving tributes to Valliant general martyr Sham Singh Attari, Mr Jaitely lauded the farmers of this border area, who, bravely faced the wars and black days of terrorism.
After the rally Mr Jaitley accompanied by Guljar Singh Ranike, Lali Rani, Parmod Devgan and advocate R P S Man and a number of party workers visited the memorial raised in the memory of Martyr Sham Singh Attari and paid floral tributes.
Expressing concern over the rising drug menace in the state, Mr Jaitley said after assuming power at the Centre we shall take strong measures to curb the menace as strictly to the terrorist infiltration.
