500 hutments, 5-6 shops gutted in 2 fire incidents in Delhi
Over five hundred hutments and 5-6 shops were reduced to ashes in two separate fire incidents here today.
''A major fire erupted in a Jughi-Jhopari colony in Vasant Vihar of south Delhi at around 0830 hrs. Over 500 hutments were burnt in the incident,'' a fire official told UNI.
''Nobody died in the fire incident but it was a major fire and the Delhi Fire Service has sent 26 fire engines to control the inferno,'' he said.
The fire was put out within a couple of hours but it could not be done before it ruined so many hutments in the area.
In another fire incident, five to six shops were gutted in Bengali market as fire erupted there in the early morning.
''Fire in Bengali market was reported at 0415 hrs...some 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and it was put out soon after,'' he said adding that the reason for both the fire incidents was being ascertained.
