Marathwada registered 64.18 per cent polling in two lok sabha constituencies in Marathwada region yesterday, up by 10.39 per cent as compared to its last election in 2009, an official sources from elections department said here today. A 53.79 per cent voting was recorded in last election.

Jalna lok sabha constituency, recorded the highest polling as 66.44 percent while in Aurangabad it was 61.93 percent.

In 2009 lok sabha election Jalna recorded 55.62 percent polling and in Aurangabad it was recorded at 51.62 percent.

Barring a few incidents like technical snag in EVMs machines in some of the booths and missing names in voter list, polling was peaceful in the two constituencies,

All the EVMs in these constituencies has been kept in strong rooms in presence of all the political parties representatives.

Of eight constituencies in this region polling in six constituencies including Nanded, Beed, Hingoli, Osmanabad, Latur and Parbhani were held in the second phase of polling in the state on April 17, with 64.45 percent polling.

Counting in all the eights constituencies will take place
on May 16, they added.
