Hate speeches by Togadia, Giriraj RSS-BJP strategy: Congress
Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia today alleged that the 'hate speeches' by VHP leader Pravin Togadia and Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh were a - party of the 'strategy' by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the party to get votes on "communal lines".
"The speeches by Pravin Togadia, Giriraj Singh are a part of the RSS and the BJP strategy to polarise the society to get votes on communal lines because the development plank of the BJP has been failed," Mr Modhwadia said.
He alleged that Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was also trying to polarise the voters.
He said the data's say Gujarat was behind several other states on human development index, education, health and other parameters.
"That is why the BJP has now started using hate speeches to get votes. This is a direct BJP strategy to polarise the people," the Congress leader alleged. He demanded strict action against Mr Togadia.
The Election Commission has also asked for a report into alleged hate speech by the VHP leader in Bhavnagar on Saturday.
The police is probing into his speech in which the VHP leader allegedly said people from the minority community should be stopped from buying property in areas of people of the majority community.
However, Mr Togadia has sent a legal notice to some media groups alleging that there was a conspiracy to malign his image.
Meanwhile, amid raging controversy over speeches delivered by Giriraj and Mr Togadia, the Chief Minister today expressed his displeasure over the 'petty statements'.
In a veiled reference to Giriraj Singh's recent statement, that all those opposed to Mr Modi will have go to Pakistan, Mr Modi tweeted that he disapproves of any such irresponsible statements.
"I disapprove any such irresponsible statement & appeal to those making them to kindly refrain from doing so. Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP's well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development & good governance," he said.
"With great happiness, the entire nation is looking towards BJP for going to people solely on the issues of good governance & development," he added.
