The din of hectic campaigning in five Parliamentary constituencies in Rajasthan that are going to polls in the second phase on April 24, came to virtual halt this evening marking 'downing of curtain' in almost a month long electioneering in the Lok Sabha polls that are being held in the state in two phases.

As compared to the first phase campaigning for the 20 of the total 25 Lok Sabha seats -- that went to polls on April 17.

The campaign in the second phase was louder as political parties and contestants pumped in all their resources.

While BJP's campaign in this phase was led by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her state party functionaries,the as Congress chief campaigner Rahul Gandhi, former state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and party state president Sachin Pilot addressed meetings for party nominees in this week.

The Gandhi family scion concluded his campaign in the state today with a road show in Alwar for his Rahul brigade member MoS Defence Jitendra Singh.

The election department has made elaborated arrangement for the polling April 24 in five constituencies- Alwar, Dausa (ST), Bharatpur(SC), Karauli-Dholpur(SC) and Tonk-Sawai Madhopur.

As many as 9,112 polling booths are set up for the polling that has almost 8.1 million eligible voters for deciding the fate of 81 contestants.

More than 45,000 security personnel will be deployed in and around the polling stations.

Prominent among the contestants are Union Ministers Jitendra Singh(Cong-Alwar), and Namo Narain Meena(Cong-Dausa-ST), his brother and BJP nominee Harish Meena and NPP rival Meena strong- man Dr Kirodi Lal( all three Dausa-ST), Team India former Skipper Mohammad Azharuddin and his BJP rival former Haryana MLA Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria(Tonk-Sawai Madhopur).
