Electioneering for two constituencies in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, which will go to polls in the third phase of general election on April 24, will end today at 1700 hours.

There are about 49 candidates contesting from the two Lok Sabha constituencies of Aurangabad (27) and Jalna (22).

Prominent among them are three-time sitting MPs Chandrakant Khaire (Sena-Aurangabad) and Raosaheb Danve (BJP-Jalna), who are in poll Fray for fourth consecutive time in a row.

Former Kannad MLA Nitin Patil and Vilas Autade, who is also Seva Dal district chief are Congress nominees from Aurangabad and Jalna respectively.

While, AAP's Subhas Lomate (Aurangabad) and Dilip Maskhe from Jalna are contesting election, SP, BSP, BMP, other smaller parties and independents are also in poll arena.

Meanwhile, the security has been beefed up in the region, particularly in these two districts to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.

So far, the areas have remained peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from these two districts during the campaigning, the highly police sources said.
