Modi asks BJP well-wishers to refrain from 'petty statements'
Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today expressed his displeasure over the 'petty statements' issued by some of the party leaders in last few days.
In a veiled reference to senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh's recent statement that all those opposing Mr Modi should go to Pakistan, Mr Modi tweeted that he disapproved of any such irresponsible statement.
'I disapprove any such irresponsible statement and appeal to those making them to kindly refrain from doing so.'
He further tweeted, 'Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP's well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development and good governance.'
''With great happiness, the entire nation is looking towards BJP solely on the issues of good governance and development,'' he said in an another tweet.
Giriraj Singh chose to stick to his statement even after it raked up a controversy. Even his own party leaders were forced to distance themselves from the statement by flaying it as 'irresponsible' and 'uncalled for.'
