Haryana assures jobs to kin of soldier, police martyrs

Gurgaon, Jan 24 : A member of the family of anyone from the armed forces, paramilitary corps or police force hailing from Haryana who is martyred in the course of duty will be given a job on compassionate grounds, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Friday.

The family of the martyr will also receive financial assistance of Rs.10 lakh, the chief minister said.

Hooda was speaking at the 44th Passing Out parade of 133 officers of the Central Reserve Police Force at the CRPF's Academy at Kadarpur in Gurgaon district when he made the announcement.

Among the officers passing out of the institute Friday were six women.

The officers from the academy Friday joined the force as assistant commandants after completing rigorous training that lasted 53 weeks. The academy was set up in 2002.

In his address, the chief minister said the academy was set up with the high ideals of professionalism, courage and dedication. Hooda said, "The country and the CRPF have high hopes from you officers, who are leaders of the future."

"You are the gazetted officers of the largest paramilitary force in the world. This is a demanding career which is full of challenges. At the same time, I hope the officers would be able to face every challenge, be it naxalism, terrorism and any difficult situation, CRPF is the first to be remembered and called during hard times," he said.

In his welcome address, CRPF Director General Dilip Trivedi said these officers were put through rigorous training, indoor and outdoor, and learned subjects with a thrust on law, counter-insurgency operations and tactics, jungle survival, police-public relations, human rights and also shooting skills under combat conditions.

The officers of the batch come from 20 states and union territories of India, in keeping with the all-India character of the CRPF.

The multiple cultures, languages, regions, religions, beliefs and practices they come with have gradually and imperceptibly been merged into one national and patriotic feeling of serving mother India, the director general said.

Talking to IANS about the announcement Hooda made of jobs for kin and compensation for families of paratroopers who are martyred, Trivedi said: "It will certainly boost the morale of the force. Such schemes already exist in some states. I would be happy if they were implemented throughout country."
