CPI(M) sitting MP Mahendra Roy contesting the Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha seat today complained with the Election Commission (EC) alleging that the ruling All India Trinamool Congress supporters were harassing his polling agents and manhandled them in some booths.

Citing an instance, Mr Roy said while he came out after casting his ballot at Bhandari polling booth in Rajgunj, his polling agents and supporters were beaten up by the AITC activists.

He said he had already reported the matter to the DM and SP and lodged complaint with the EC giving details of intimidation and harassment.

RSP's candidate for Alipurduar Lok Sabha seat Monahar Tirkey alleged that the TMC muscle-men have beaten up an aged polling agent, who was hospitalised with injuries.

He said agent in Toofangunj and Baxirhat were prevented from entering the booths and pleaded helpless for the absence of the central forces in those areas.

Meanwhile, reports from different booths in Darjeeling said voting delayed for more than an hour after EVMs were found malfunctioning, which were then replaced.
