Aurangabad bench's panel lawyer caught accepting bribe
A panel lawyer of Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court was caught red-handed here last night while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a widow.
According to ACB statement here today, the complainant -- a widow, had applied for a job on compassionate grounds.
But, the case is under litigation, following which the High court directed advocate Rajendra Sharma to represent the widow before the court in the case, for which he was not supposed to charge any fee to the woman.
However, Sharma sought Rs 3,000 from her to plead on behalf her.After bargaining, the lawyer agreed to work for Rs 1,000.
Meanwhile, the widow who was reluctant to pay the bribe amount lodged the complaint with ACB against the Adv. Sharma.
After verifying the facts mentioned in the complaint, officials of the ACB team laid a trap last night at a Xerox center in the N-3 locality in Cidco, and caught him red-handed while accepting bribe amount from the woman in presence of eye witness, the statement added.
