BJP demands probe into rise of wealth of ruling BJD leaders
The Odisha unit of the BJP today demanded an inquiry into the unprecedented rise in the wealth of the elected representatives for a fair and free election.
BJP Chief Spokesperson Suresh Pujari told newspersons here that the property of the ruling BJD Ministers MLAs and MPs had risen at the rate of 10, 20 and even 50 times as per the self sworn affidavits submitted by the candidates for the 2014 elections.

Mr Pujari said though the Election Commissioned had issued an order not to deploy the employees working in the offices of the Chief Minister, Ministers and Chief Whip but as many as 41 employees were relieved from their duties to do election duty, violating the direction.
The former BJP President apprehended that these employees would try to influence the voters in favour of the ruling party and urged the Election Commission to immediately intervene and see that they were not engaged in any kind of election duty.
Mr Pujari said the BJD was apprehending that it would be defeated in the hustings and so resorting to violence in many of the constituencies to create a fear psychosis among the people.
He said the BJD activists had made a murderous attack on the opposition party workers at Rourkela, Mahakalpada, Mahanga, Khurda and Bhubaneswar. The Police also seized mauser, sharp weapons, guns from these places.
The BJP leader also alleged that the BJD was using the black money to influence the voters through the women self help groups and the Anganwadi workers. The election authorities in the state, he said had seized Rs 1.2 crore from the BJD party workers and leaders.
