AAP emerges as third force in Punjab
Year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as a third force in Punjab and posed a serious threat to the SAD-BJP alliance and Congress in the state.
AAP convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal got a good response from the people during his rallies, public meetings and road shows in his three-day visit to the state.
Mr Kejriwal started the campaign for his party in the state with a visit to the historic Golden Temple at Amritsar on April 11. During his visit, he appealed to the electorates to vote against the ruling SAD-BJP alliance government and also against the corrupt UPA government.
The party has made the electoral contest triangular in at least four constituencies of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Patiala where it has fielded renowned eye specialist Dr Daljit Singh, eminent lawyer H S Phoolka, comedian Bhagwant Singh Mann and Dr Dharamvir Gandhi respectively.
The party is getting good response not only in urban areas but also in rural areas of the state and is in a position to disturb the calculations of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance and Congress in all thirteen Lok Sabha seats of the state.
