Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal's name does not figure in the list of star campaigners who will campaign for the party in BJP-ruled Gujarat.

The AAP list, which was announced today, includes national leaders like Yogendra Yadav, Sanjay Singh, Mahatma Gandhi's great grandson Rajmohan Gandhi, Prashant Bhushan and Pankaj Gupta.

''The star campaigners will campaign for the party from April 16-26 in different constituencies of Gujarat. They will hold road shows, rallies, public meetings and other programmes,'' AAP Gujarat unit media convenor Harshil Nayak said today. When asked why Mr Kejriwal's name does not figure in the list of star campaigners, Mr Nayak said the former Delhi Chief Minister was very busy in election programmes across the country.

''The AAP is contesting on more than 415 seats in the general elections. There is a great demand of Mr Kejriwal for election campaign in different parts of the country,'' the AAP media convenor told UNI.

''Mr Kejriwal's name is not in the list of star campaigners but he might come for the campaigning. He has already visited Gujarat last month for four days,'' Mr Nayak said.

He said the AAP, in its debut Lok Sabha polls, is contesting on 24 out of 26 seats in Gujarat. Mr Kejriwal is contesting against state Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The AAP leader's Gujarat visit had engulfed in controversies with the former Delhi Chief Minister facing attacks on his vehicle and black flags were shown to him at various places in the state.

Gujarat will go to single phase polling on April 30.
