Devotees throng Saptashrungi temple on Chaitra festival
Thousands of devotees from Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat thronged the Saptashrungi Mata temple at Vani in Kalvan Taluk of the district today, on the occasion of Chaitra Poornima (full moon day), biggest day of the Chaitra festival.
The most important festival of the Saptashrungi temple- Chaitrotsav, 'the Chaitra festival' started last Tuesday and will culminate tomorrow on Chaitra Poornima.
Pilgrims from Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik and Gujarat have been arriving here since the last three days for the darshan of Saptashrung Mata, also called 'Mahishasur Mardini' who killed the ferocious demon Mahishasur.
Young devotees walking on foot from Dhule and Nashik district reached here yesterday.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport has arranged special buses for transportation of devotees to Saptashring Garh. The entry to private vehicles has been banned and only MSRTC buses are allowed to the garh.
The Grampanchyat of Nanduri and district administration provided water, transporting and health facilities to the devotees.
Police also made tight security arrangement during the Yatra.
