Baisakhi celebrated at Kaleshwar Mahadev; thousands took dip in Beas
Thousands of devotees today took a dip in the river Beas at Kaleshwar Mahadev temple in connection with the three-day Baisakhi festival, which was celebrated with religious gaiety and fervour.
The devotees started thronging the Kaleshwar Mahadev temple since morning to pay obeisance before the lignum of Lord Shiva in this ancient temple.
They first had a dip in the silent waters of river Beas, on the bank of which is located Kaleshwar Mahadev temple.
HR Sharma a local social activist said that it was believed that a dip in the Beas at Kaleshwar Mahadev temple on the eve of Baisakhi gives benefit to the devotee of five pilgrimages Haridwar, Nasik, Priyag, Rameshwaram and Ujjain.
Kaleshwar Mahadev temple is known as Panchtirthi due to the visit of Pandvas to this historical site during their exile where they made a tank in which water from five pilgrimages Haridwar, Nasik, Priyag, Rameshwaram and Ujjain was brought and put in the tank, he added.
