AAP only party to have raised water as election issue: Rajendra Singh
Water man Rajendra Singh and Ramon Magsaysay awardee today assured that if Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Subhash Lomte gets elected from Aurangabad in Lok Sabha elections, he would address and resolve all issues related to water in the region.
Speaking during a press meet held at party office in the city. Mr Singh said water was a grave issue for the region and one that has been looming since ages.
Mentioning his work for welfare of unorganised labour he Claimed that he knows Lomte for the last 35 years and would endeavour to address the basic issues pertaining to region.
'Water has been a constitutional right and it would be assured that necessary laws are implementated,' he added. Mr Singh said that AAP would also focus on breaking the contract driven democracy.
Mr Singh, who heads the NGO Tarun Bharat Sangh which is involved in watershed management projects in Alwar district of Rajasthan, claimed that he has gone through all the manifesto's released by all political parties for on going elections but none of them have mentioned water as an issue issue, which is crucial for everyone.
'Only AAP's manifesto mentions its stand of water as a business and its privatisation as it is a human right. Congress has only mentioned to make river water pollution free," he added.
Speaking against the BJP's agenda of river linking, Mr Singh said that such a move will increase corruption and pollution in rivers.
'Floods and droughts cannot be dealt in such a manner, linking rivers will only benefit contractors and corporates involved in the projects," he added.
