'Party to decide my role in post-election scenario: Advani
BJP veteran and sitting MP of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency LK Advani today said his role in the party will be decided after the election.
Mr Advani, who was campaigning in Bavla town in his constituency this morning, said he has been contesting Lok Sabha polls since 1952 and this time he is contesting for the 16th Lok Sabha.
'But this time the situation is different. For the first time in the electoral history of the country, the voters have taken a decision before the polling that the present government should go and BJP should form the next government,' he said.
When asked what could be his role in post-election scenario, Mr Advani said his party will take a decision to that effect, and added that he has always abided by the party's decision.
He has been opposing the anointment of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the party's Prime Ministerial candidate.
The other day he was in Kerala and the response of the people was so overwhelming that now he is expecting to get some seats there.
Explainging his abscence in the campaigning, he said as he had been campaigning in various parts of the country, he could not stay back in Gandhinagar but his son Jayant and daughter Pratibha have been campaigning on behalf him.
Referring to his ties with Gujarat, Mr Advani said his family used to live in Karachi, Pakistan before indepedence but soon after the partition in 1947, decided to settle in the twin cities of Gandhidham and Adipur like many of the Sindhi community had settled their after leaving Pakistan. Mr Advani said he has been visiting the twin city frequently.
Mr Advani is scheduled to campaign in Bavla, Sanand and Kalol towns of Gandhinagar constituency today.
