East Bengal beat Pune FC 3-1 to close gap with leader Bengaleru
Kingfisher East Bengal riding a double strike from Lalrindika Ralte in 3-1 result against Pune FC came close to deficit gap with leader Bengaleru FC to four points in the I-League match here today.
After Edeh Chidi opened in the 18th minute, Ralte doubled for the host just two minutes from half time and the Mizoram midfielder ensured full three points in the 70th minute after Pune FC Mirjan Pavlovic's strike in the 58th minute.
Scripting third straight win East Bengal earned 37 points from 21 games, Armando Colaco's boys still have one match in hand to level Bengaleru FC 22 games with 41 points.
After winning in the previous match against Mohammedan Sporting, Colaco retained his winning side spearheaded by the Nigerian striker Edeh Chidi with Ryuji Sueoka to assist him.
Started with positive football East Bengal earned quick lead inside 20 minutes as Chidi struck home a pass of Sueoka. The lead was buttressed in the 43rd minute when Cavin Lobo split the defense with cutting pass to Sueoka, who cleared the ball for Ralte tos end home.
Resumption of the second session substitute Pavlovic, came in place of Nicolau Borges, and the Australian struck home.
East Bengal made it 3-1 twenty minutes before as Ralte's salvo was too hot for the rical goal keeper.
