The BJP today expressed shock and displeasure over the anti-women remarks by the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh and party's Maharashtra chief Abu Azmi.

Talking to reporters here, party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said 'statements by the two SP leaders are unimaginable. They don't even know the meaning of rape.'

'These leaders were always against women reservation. To woo the voters, they have reached to such low level and this is ridiculous,' he said.

Mr Javdekar expressed dismay over the Congress being silent on this topic saying it fears that by replying strongly voters will boycott them.

'Keeping an eye on future benefit from Samajwadi Party, the Congress is keeping silent on this,' he said.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over Congress' personal comment on BJP' prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

'They should not go to personal level. If we do this, then Congress won't be in a position to show face to the voters,' he added.
