Capt cautions against disinformation over OROP to ex-servicemen
Former Punjab Chief Minister and Amritsar candidate Capt Amarinder Singh today urged the ex-servicemen not to get misled by the false propaganda by the vested interests, particularly the Akalis and BJP, which were trying to spread disinformation over the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme implemented by the UPA government recently.
During his deliberations with the office bearers of the Indian Ex-Services League here today, he said he had got the matter clarified and the notification on OROP had already been issued. He said the copies of the notification were available with the Ex-Services League office across Punjab.
He said the Ministry of Defence had already issued directions to the department of the Central Defence Accounts in this regard and he was in possession of that letter also. The ex-servicemen will very soon be getting the benefit of the OROP and it will start getting credited into their account within a month or so, he added. Capt Amarinder regretted that the opposition parties were not able to digest the decision and were hence spreading rumours as they are genuinely apprehensive that the ex-servicemen were going to vote for Congress over this historic decision.
The state will go to polls in single phase on April 30.
