Pakistan Marine Security Agency personnel abducted 18 fishermen of Gujarat with three boats off Jakhau coast in Kutch region late last night.


Gujarat Fishermen Association president Manish Lodhari told mediapersons here today that the news of the abduction of the fishermen was received today. He said the fishermen were fishing in Indian waters off Jakhau coast in Kutch region yesterday when the Pakistan Marine Security Agency personnel crossed the international border and abducted 18 fishermen alongwith 3 boats.

He said all the three boats were from Porbandar and the fishermen were from different towns of coastal Saurashtra.

The Pakistan Marine Security Agency has abducted Indian fishermen by entering Indian waters for several times in past. According to Lodhari, more than 400 fishermen are languishing in Pakistani jails alongwith their 850 boats. Due to the seizure of the boats by Pakistani authorities, the Indian fishermen have incurred a financial loss of Rs 500 crores, Lodhari said.
