After brisk polling in Vidarbha region's 10 Lok Sabha seats in the first phase, the campaign has geared up for six constituencies out of eight for second-phase polling on April 17.

The constituencies are Nanded, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Hingoli, Latur and Beed. With six days remaining for the polling in these constituencies, all the major political parties--SS-BJP-RPI-SSS-RSP and Cong-NCP combined are organising major rallies by their prominent party leaders, while BSP, SP and first time contesting AAP party and some of the smaller party candidates were seen wooing voters.

In Parbhani last night, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and State chief minister Prithviraj Chavan addressed a joint election rally in support of NCP candidate Vijay Bamble. Speaking on this occasion, Mr Pawar said there is a need for a stable government in the country for its development.

While, Mr Chavan said,''in the past we experienced the NDA led government and at that time the people were fed up of them and UPA provided good government during its tenure.''

In Hingoli, Shiv sena president Uddhav Thackeray addressed an election rally in support of their sitting MP

Subhas Wankhede.

He said the farmers of the state will teach lesson to the state government by casting their votes against them because the government failed to waive their loans.

The farmers were greatly affected due to the hailstorm rains as their entire standing rabbi crops were ruined in it.

Before that, Mr Thackeray attended a party workers' convention in Nanded in support of BJP candidate D B Patil.

Reports from Beed district stated that senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde and his daughter were also campaigning for Mr Munde who was seeking re-election in Beed.

NCP top brass leaders -- R R Patil, Adv Majid Menon, Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde so far have visited the region and on the other side grand alliance leaders Ramdas Athawale and Mahadev Jamkar were also compaigning in the region while SP state chief Abu Azmi also addressed rallies in Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded.

AAP party candidates were canvassing in their own capacity.

BJP's prime ministrail candidate Narendra Modi and Party Chief Rajnath singh also addressed rallies in Latur, Beed and Nanded.

In the coming days, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally at Hingoli on April 15, while BJP's former Presindet Nitin Gadkari will attend rally in Jintur in Parbhani district, said respective party sources.

There are about 147 candidates including five women candidates in the poll arena from the six Lok Sabha constituencies of Nanded (23), Hingoli(23) Parbhani(17), Latur(18) Osmanabad (27)and Beed (39) in the region.
