Shoe godown catches fire in Mumbai, no casualties reported
A shoe godown in Mumbai caught fire early on Friday morning, but fire station officials said there were no casualties.
The fire occurred at the Metro Shoe godown, and according to fire station officials, it took eight fire tenders to bring the blaze under control.
Senior police officer Inamdar said the incident took place in Mumbai's Lalbagh area, and added that there were highly inflammable substances inside the storage space.
"There was huge inflammable articles in the Metro Shoe godown. Fire personnel came on time and tried to douse the fire out. There are no casualties. However, there is loss of property," said Inamdar.
Fire officer Lanzale said: "We got a call at 2:15 a.m. on our control room number. Eight fire tenders were required to douse the fire.There was a lot of material inside the godown that was used for making shoes. There is no report of causalities as of now. We have controlled the fire and cooling operations are on. We will find the reason behind the fire. It will be clear after the investigation."
