The city police today arrested a Nationalist Congress Party corporator on the charges of assaulting a woman over a land grabbing dispute in Kalwa.


The corporator, along with others had attacked Shaloo Vitthal Ebrio, (55), a resident of Samrat Ashok Nagar in Kalwa, with sharp weapons a couple of days back over a dispute regarding rooms near the Kalwa railway station, police today said.

The injured woman is being treated at the Kalwa civic hospital since past ten days.

Salvi was elected on NCP ticket from the ward No 44-A in Kalwa and he had a dispute over land in Kalwa.

The police arrested the four -- corporator Mahesh Salvi, Babloo Anant Kumar, Atish Ramesh Dodage and Sachin Dattu Aldal -- on the charges of attacking the woman. The four have been booked under Sections 324, 141, 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code, sources added.
