Zoo in Kerala gets 7 anacondas from Sri Lanka
Seven anacondas were brought here today from a Sri Lankan Zoo, making the zoo in this state capital the fourth in the country having these reptiles as exhibits.
Director of Department of Museums and Zoos, Mr B Joseph, said here seven specimens of Green Anacondas were brought from Dehiwala Zoo, Sri Lanka.
The zoo here will give a pair of Indian bisons to Dehiwala Zoo in exchange, he added. The six females and a male snakes together weigh 90 kg. The anacondas, measuring between 1 and 1.5 metres in length, are aged between two and three-and-a-half years, making them pre-adults.
These snakes were kept in a cool environment as heat is dangerous for them.
The reptiles were brought here by road from Chennai Airport.
