Once again the unseasonal heavy rains accompanied with hailstorm and winds lashed the parts of Osmanabad, Beed and Latur districts of Marathwada region last evening which claimed three lives due to lightning.

Reports reaching from the respective district headquarters to the Divisional Commissioner's office stated that the hailstorm rains which lashed the parts of the three districts in the region claimed three lives.

A 47-year-old farmer Mangal Pawar, a resident of Kasbe Tadwale, was killed when lightning struck him while he was engaged in farm activities in his farm while another person Uttam Pawar of Sonarwadi was also killed due to similar incident in Osmanabad district.

Reports from Beed district said Navnath Mule hailing from Daithana village was killed on the spot when lightning stuck him during the rains.

The hailstorm rains also lashed parts of Latur district and some of the areas in Parbhani district.

Recently, the havoc of hailstorm rains which lashed the entire region between the period of February to March damaged nearly eight lakh hectors standing crops in this region.

About 18 human lives were lost due to rain-related incidents and about 50 panic stricken and debit ridden farmers committed suicide by different means due to the losses of their standing crops and horticulture in the region.

The remaining standing crops were damaged due to the rains which lashed last evening, reports added.
