It didn't behove Capt Singh to talk about economic slow down: Dhindsa
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader and Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa today said that it did not behove Captain Amarinder Singh to talk about issues like economic slow down, because his own period as CM had proved to be one of the worst phase in the post independence history of Punjab.
Hitting back at Captain Singh for the allegations that real estate business had suffered because of the wrong policies of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Mr Dhindsa, in a statement here today said "Captain Singh would do well to recall what become of the real estate economy in Punjab during his tenure as Chief Minister.
"Real estate was booming before Captain Singh took over as Chief Minister of the state. But the way he treated builders and other real estate players as his 'personal' sources, frightened them out of the state.
"As a result, prices of land and other property fell steeply during that period".
He said that Captain Singh had claimed that he had brought real estate projects worth Rs one lakh crore and had that this would create jobs for one lakh youth in the state.
However, the reality was that none of those projects was there to be seen on the ground. In fact, these involved big scams like the City Centre and Ludhiana scandal, he added.
"How can a person himself facing court case of scam such as the Ludhiana City Centre accuse others of mishandling real estate?", Mr Dhindsa asked.
