Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh today categorically dismissed the allegations of perjury levelled by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy against him, at a press conference in New Delhi.

''I categorically deny and dismiss these baseless and ridiculous allegations as they are utter rubbish, so characteristic of Swamy,'' he said in a statement here.

Capt Singh pointed out that the very timing of these allegations speak for themselves as the frustration of BJP leadership was understandable with the party candidate from Amritsar, Arun Jaitley badly losing from there.

''Given the fact that Mr Jaitley has realised his position in Amritsar vis-a-vis mine, the BJP's dirty tricks department has now come out with this ploy,'' he alleged. ''This only shows how threatened BJP feels in Amritsar, losing ground day by day,'' the permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee added.

Earlier today, Dr Swamy had accused Capt Singh of holding huge unaccounted sum in bank accounts under his mother and son's name.

Amritsar will go to polls on April 30.
