AIFB candidate Avhad released on bail
All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) Lok Sabha candidate for Nashik, Mahesh Zunjar Avhad, arrested late Monday for threatening and causing damage to a petrol pump in Nashik Road area,was released on bail of Rs 15,000 by a local court today, his lawyer Advocate Zunjar Avhad said.
Avhad (43), furious over denial of his demand to fill his car tank by an attendant at Petromine Auto Services Petrol Pump, had allegedly created a ruckus and damaged a machine at petrol pump in Nashik Road area,sources said.
The owner Hanif Sharif Khan claimed that the machine had suffered damage to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh.
The FIR also claims that Avhad had grappled with police and caused them 'obstruction in duty'.
Cases under Sections 386, 336, 427, 504, 353 of Indian Penal Code have been registered against him.
Avhad's candidature was declared valid along with 23 others for the Nashik LS constituency yesterday. AIFB is contesting the Nashik seat for the first time.
