Gujarat BJP women's cell chief Jyoti Pandya today slammed Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over the issue of women empowerment.

"Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should stop shedding crocodile tears over women empowerment," Ms Pandya said.

She alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at centre has delayed a Bill providing 33 per cent
reservation to women in Parliament.

She said the Narendra Modi-led government in Gujarat has taken a number of steps for women empowerment and claimed that the BJP has provided 33 per cent
representation to women in the party.

The BJP leader said the state government has provided crores of rupees to the women under various schemes, women police stations have been established, several ITIs have been started and Anganwadi centres have been developed.

Ms Pandya accused Congress leaders of misguiding the people over the alleged snooping scandal in Gujarat.

She further said the BJP has promised various measures for all-round development of women in its manifesto for general elections which was released yesterday.
