Festival of Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Rama, is being celebrated with traditional gaity and religious fervour across the state.

All major temples across the state have been decked up since early morning where special pujas are being offered. Special prayers and celebrations were held in various temples at noon to mark the birth of Lord Rama. Bhajans and discourses on the life of Lord Rama have been organised at several places.

Chief Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi greeted the people on occasion of Ram Navami. Writing on social networking site Twitter, he shared a 'Ram Stuti' on his account. 'Greetings on Ram Navami. May Shri Ram continue to shower his divine blessings on us,' Mr Modi tweeted.

The day also marked the nine-day long fast of Navaratri. Mr Modi, a devotee of Goddess Durga, fasts on during the period, surviving only on fruit juices.
