The Kagal police have arrested four youths and seized four live bombs from them in the district.

According to police, they had received an information about a gang which had been using modern technique for couple of months to prepare bombs.

Last evening, the police laid a trap at a petrol pump in the town and arrested four youths, seized as many live bombs and electronic materials used in bomb preparation valued at Rs more than 25 lakh. Later, the police defused the bombs at Kagal-Lingnur-Dumala Mal under tight security.

The arrested have been identified as Anjikya Manohar Bhopale(22), an engineering student; Aniket Bhivaji Mali(22), a wireman; both residents of Chokak village in Hatkanangale Tehsil of this district, Nilesh Babanrao Patil (20) and Anil Popat Kharse (28), both from Kabnur in Ichalkaranji town.

Meanwhile, Labour Minister Hasan Mushrif in a letter to Superintendent of Police Dr Manojkumar Sharma demanded a detailed inquiry into the incident.

The incident came as a shocker in view of the April 17 Lok Sabha elections in the district. Mr Mushrif also demanded the police administration to increase security in the area.
