Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and newly-appointed In-charge of Gujarat Congress Ashok Gehlot arrived here this afternoon on a two-day visit of the state to discuss party strategy for the Lok Sabha polls with party workers.

Mr Gehlot will tomorrow accompany Congress candidate for Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency Kirit Patel, when he files his nomination.

Mr Gehlot's presence at the time of filing of nomination is expected to send the message across party workers that the candidate who is challenging BJP stalwart LK Advani in Gandhinagar, has solid backing of the party.

Mr Gehlot will also hold a series of meetings with senior party leaders and workers tomorrow to discuss the issues pertaining to the party's campaign in Gujarat, which goes to polls in single phase on Apirl 30.

He is expected to meet members of Rajasthani community in Ahmedabad tomorrow evening.

Mr Gehlot has replaced Gurudas Kamat who was earlier the in-charge of Gujarat Congress, butis busy now fighting Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai.
