BSF jawans deployed in the combing operation in the naxal infested Malkangiri district have a providential escape during a landmine explosion triggered by the Maoists today.

Police said the BSF jawans spotted few Maoist posters by the Maoists at MV 31 village under Kalimela police station to boycott the poll in the area during the combing operation today.

When the jawans tried to remove the posters, the landmines planted by the Maoists exploded but fortunately no jawans were injured in the incident.

However, two cows grazing near the explosion site were killed in the explosion.

Soon after the incident the BSF jawans and Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans intensified the combing operation in the area to flush out the Maoists.
