Majithia a conduit between drug traffickers in India Abroad: Congress
Senior Congress leader and party candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh today said the drug trade in Punjab was being patronised by the ruling Akali Dal and the Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia who was acting as a conduit between the drug traffickers in the state and those settled abroad.
Addressing a series of public meetings at village Abdaal for the general elections where polls are scheduled for April 30, in Majitha assembly segment and Pandoori Waraich and Hair Kalan in Attari segment, the Congress leader said, these details were mentioned in the charge-sheet filed by the investigating agencies in the drug scandal involving a dismissed DSP.
He said the people must not feel scared of him as the countdown for the Akali-BJP government had already started and he will soon be held accountable and answerable.
Lashing out at the BJP candidate Arun Jaitely for trying to deviate the issue by solely blaming the central security agencies like the BSF for the drug problem in the state, the former chief minister said, "Is it possible to manufacture such drugs without the government patronage?".
He said, while Mr Badal claims himself to be the messiah of the farmers, he never bothered about their plight.
"Where is the power for the agriculture sector? Do you get any regular power for eight hours as was the case during my time?" he asked, as people replied in negative, while pointing out how much harassment the farmers were suffering while selling their produce in the mandis.
The land prices had gone up while now there is total slump as the Badals were deliberately not allowing the real estate business to flourish so that people are forced to go for distress sale and they can buy it for cheap price to sell it later.
