Three-time in a row elected BJP MP Raosaheb Danve from Jalna known as steel Industries city in Marathwada region trying his luck this time too, will face two major newly players fielded by Congress and Aam Adami Party(AAP) where polls are scheduled on April 24.

This time Congress has fielded Vilas Autade belonging from Aurangbad district who is also district rural president of Congress's sevadal unit, while AAP's party candidate Dilip Mhaske IIT man returned from US after his long profession and joined anti-crusader Anna Hazare's movement against corruption about ten years ago and is originally from Jalna district.

They are being dubbed as outsiders by the BJP campaigners in the constituency.

Despite anti-incumbency, Mr Danve, appears to have a slightly edge over his main rivals this time.

Mr Danve who was elected three time in row by defeating Congress nominees B D Ganpatrao in 1999, Mr Uttamsinh Pawar in 2004 and Dr Kalyan Kale in 2009 lok sabha election.

Mr Kale lost his seat by slender margin of just 8000 votes against Mr Danve.

Despite anti-incumbency, Danve, appears to have an slightly edge over his main rivals this time who is confident that he will win by the margin of over two lakh votes this time.

The Jalna Lok Sabha constituency comprises three assembly segments each of Jalna (Bhokardan, Jalna city and Badnapur) and Aurangabad (Sillod, Paithan and Phulamri) districts. Out of six assembly segments in the Lok Sabha constituency, three are represented by the Congress, two segments by NCP while one assembly segment that was reserved for SC category is represented by Shiv Sena. Jalna district also known across the world for its flourishing seed industries has been facing lot of problems like erratic power supply to bad roads. It is also famous for sweet lime.

Most of the sweet limes produced, however, were destroyed recently following unseasonal month-long rains and hailstorms that lashed the region ruining standing rabbi crops including the sweet lime horticulture.

Some of the congress activists pointed out that due to the out of districts candidates given by party to Jalna Lok Sabha election which was once a congress stronghold during the last three elections Mr Danve who was hailing from Jalna district had wrested the seat from congress by the tune of son of the soil and added that but when the party started to field candidates from Aurangabad district, the people gradually shifted their loyalties to the BJP.

This time too, the party fielded Vilas Autade, son of Aurangabad district unit party chief, in Jalna Lok Sabha constituency, while Danve had already launched his campaign long back.

However, Autade asserted that he has been active in politics and social activities and said there was strong anti-incumbency wave against the sitting MP Danve, who has done nothing for the constituency in his three terms in Parlimanent.

Mhaske, who had joined the AAP while in the US, said that he has been associated with Anna Hazare for over 10 years. He also claims that he has been receiving good response from the Jalna people and will take on Congress and BJP on the issue of development, he said.
