With the arrest of three people from the district, the Thane district rural police today claimed to have solved the brutal murder of a middle aged man from the district.


Sr PI Kishore Khairnar of the LCB Thane district rural police told reporters that it was on April 3 at about 1530 hrs, the body of a middle aged man was found within the limits of Nandni village on the Nandni-Koshim road near the Bombil Pada naka. The body was dumped near the Mori.

The police took the body and it was revealed that the man aged around 40 was strangulated to death by some unknown persons and body dumped in the mori.

The postmortem on the body revealed that they had strangulated the victim with the help of wire and abandoned his body in the Mori.

Giving futher details of the crime he said that the victim was identified as Barku Rama Samosa, 40 a resident of Naik Wadi, at Valiv.

It was some 7 to 8 months back the main accused in the crime Umesh Damaji Gangan (34) of Vasai had built some chawls on the piece of land belonging to the father-in-law of victim Samosa.

There was a dispute between Samosa and Gangan over the chawls and land, the police said.

As a result of the dispute, the accused hatched a conspiracy and called the victim out of his house on April 3, under the pretext of showing him a land, as the victim used to be dealing with the lands sale and purchase agent and took him to an isolated place and strangulated him to death with the help of wire and later sent the body to Wada and dumped it near the Mori to destroy evidence.

Sr police inspector Khairnar said both the victim and the accused were wiremen petty works.

He gave the names of the arrested as Umesh damaji Gangan, 34, Suraj Shamrao Jadhav, 23 and Rafique Sayya Patel, 26.

A case under sections 302 and 201 of the IPC was booked the police added.
