7 killed, 17 injured in two accidents in Odisha
Seven people were killed and 17 others injured in two separate road accidents in Ganjam district today
Four people died and two were injured when a sugarcane loaded truck collided with an auto rickshaw at Dhenkisala near Seragada in Ganjam district under Seragada police station about 35 km from here today.
The deceased have been identified as auto driver Bipin Sethi (35) of Takarada, Khadala Dakua (18) of Sorada and Kabi Gouda (50) of Thuruthura who died on the spot and Sangita Gouda (18) of Kerikerijhola who succumbed to her injury at MKCG Hospital here.
The irate public resorted to rasta roko on Seragada-Aska Road demanding compensation to the next kin of the victims. They withdrew agitation after Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)Bijaya Kumar Nanda, Dharakote PS IIC Ram Chandra Biswal along with Balakrushna Kanhar IIC Seragada PS reached the spot and pacified the irate public.
In another incident, 3 people identified as Sudeshna Behera (25), Surendra Behera (47) and Badal Kumar Behera (10) were killed and 15 others injured at Gopapura under Kabisurya Nagar police station in Purushottampur block in Ganjam district when the trolley of a tractor in which they were traveling turned turtle.
They were on the way to Tara Tarini temple to offer puja for the tractor purchased only two days ago. The driver of the tractor lost control over the steering on a sharp turning, police said.
